Your emotional and physical wellbeing is directly linked to your relationship with money!
There is an old testament bible verse I am quite fond of;
If the axe is dull and one does not sharpen the edge, one must use more strength, but wisdom brings success. Ecclesiastes 10:10
So effectively this is a metaphor for gaining knowledge or understanding in the pursuit of success, not just trying and working harder and harder towards the goals and then hitting burnout from overworking.
For example, if a small business owner is working 70 hours a week, just to make ends meet and is always tired and stressed and sick in body, he needs to make some decisions on how he will turn this around.
Changes he could implement would be:
- Hire an assistant
- Delegate more to staff
- Engage with a business mentor or advisor to help him get better control
- Schedule in some time off for holidays
- See a nutritionist or health care professional for help
- Crunch his numbers to see where his most profitable activities are
Taking these sorts of steps to improve life and business are Wisdom NOT more effort! I have seen many a business owner (even Christians) Get to the point where they are so overwhelmed with work and responsibilities, that they have a stress meltdown and are forced to take time off. We don’t need to get to this point!
The way we think about money directly affects how it comes to us in reality. If we have a scarcity ‘never enough’ mentality, then that is probably what will be our reality. If we think negatively about our life and business and think we are nor good enough, smart enough or a failure, then that is what will likely play our in out in our lives. Resulting in physical and emotion sickness.
As a Christian entrepreneur, and someone who decided they hated their career at the age of 40 and needed to find a new business venture, I have been through some pretty doubtful times, where I thought I was a failure, and it seemed like everything I was doing was not working and very unclear.
But what we need to realise is, that God is with us every step of the way, and when we deliberately make a decision to speak and think positively about our lives, the miracles and provision will come.
I truly believe that 2019 is the YEAR OF ABUNDANCE!
